"It
is both amazing and ironic that in doing all we can to avoid taking
ownership of a mistake or issue of ours, we leave ourselves with no
other choice. When we attempt to pass it off on others, they will either
disappear, leaving no one to blame, or throw it back at us. When we
ignore it, it either becomes to large to deflect or morphs into another
issue that we must deal with. Most interestingly, when we burn bridges,
we create an island that alienates us from those who request we take
responsibility; it is an island surrounded on all sides by the same
issue that brought it about."
