A Poem: Pillow Talk - 3/28/11

"Let my pillow be a diary...a place for your secrets to rest. The bed is but a canvas for your desires to manifest. The sheets will house your inhibitions while the covers smother us and I listen. Tender thoughts need a thoughtful place to land; in the quiet of the night, I promise to understand. The comfort of silence can open hearts to the stars. Such depth of connection makes eyes glow like fireflies in jars...may the molecules of our energies conduct not only heat, but also the affection that we both seek. We lay together not to make love, but to have love make us, form us, warm us. The convection of proximity will forge bonds that stretch far beyond this bed. These pillows house dreams that stretch far beyond each head. Horizontal positioning creates vertical movement as our minds reach a higher level...learning more, knowing more, our spirits flutter and refuse to settle. Inclinations, intimations, they're all spiritual information that lead to mental inspiration. Intercourse takes place when there's physical participation. The universe unravels under these sheets, and we feel the world turn with our heartbeats. Cuddling is an exploration of the cosmos, our depth shared and insecurity pared as our loves osmose. The moon is a beacon, signaling as it gracefully glows. It calls for us to wax and wane our essences to each other before our eyes close. In doing so, a new world of understanding rises with the dawn. Out of the darkness comes a love so bright that it compromises the sun."

A Freestyle Piece: Livin' in America - 3/22/11

"While we struggle to make ends meet, the guys on Wall Street rake in more wages; they collect hundreds of millions in bonuses, while only we know what the onus is, as onward another war wages. My money is good enough to fund a bullet, but I can't even afford to treat my hamstring, should I pull it. College lands more people in debt than in jobs; banks pursue harder than cops after a man who robs."

A Freestyle Piece: Murder Scene - 3/22/11

"Oh how I murdered thy inhibitions. They lay slain in a pool of fear; the pernicious principle of candor was the weapon of choice, laced with a charm that only expedited the execution. 'Courage' was written in the irrationality that was splattered on the walls. Cases and cases of baggage were torn to shreds; pictures, records, and many other memories were left smoldering in desire. I ransacked the past to get you..."

A Freestyle Piece: You Say We're in Love; I Say We're Strangers - 3/22/11

"You say that we're in love; I say we're strangers. You say love is risky; I say you know the dangers. You say I'll break your heart; you'll do that on your own. You love me when I'm near, but hate me when I'm gone. You'll say you trust me; you really don't. You say you'll let me in; you really won't. You're careless with your heart; that's why it's scarred. You let it get left it in the cold; that's why it's hard."

A Freestyle Piece: Where Did We Go Wrong? Where Do We Belong? - 3/22/11

"Where did we go wrong? Where do we belong? How could something so short-lived affect me for so long? Kept my heart in check at first, but then my feelings overgrew...I was so gone over you...what I thought was the whole truth was only an overview...a real love is so long overdue. You overthrew my judgment, just to rule by lies; if you told the truth now, you'd fool my eyes..."

Words for My Girlfriend, Wherever She Is... - 3/22/11

"My world is infinitely improved by your presence. I feel as though you can have this effect on others, and that's why I encourage you to be the best you can be. You have the power to literally change my world because I surrender it to you with the trust that you won't abuse or manipulate it; that's love. What did you do with all of that power? Give me the same. That's how I know I found the right person."

A Brief Philosophy: Work on the Harvest - 3/22/11

"To work hard is to sow seeds, to persevere is to water them. Should you have the will to weather storms, you will reap fruits that reflect your amount of work; their sweetness is determined by your tenacity. Laziness is but a blight that will destroy your crops. Honing one's skills will increase one's productivity, and trying new things will diversify the yield. Keep working on your harvest!"

A Freestyle Piece: The Ever-present Absence - 3/22/11

"When people leave, we often try to find someone else to fill those gaps in; but you, you're the ever-present absence. Your first is rarely ever your last; I feel so much for you now that I swear I left my heart in the past. You taught me so much, and showed me even more; it was true learning experience, I guess that's what your first love is for. We're supposed to be just friends, but that love never ends..."

A Freestyle Piece: I Always Leave the Door Cracked - 3/8/11

"Whenever I think I'm done, I give you more slack; though I'd shut it on most, for you, I always leave the door cracked. You're back for a moment, then you're gone again; it's always for the wrong guys, and you end up alone again. Guys haven't been the kindest to you, but you don't really think there's no such thing as kindness, do you? Either close the door or stay; don't run up a bill you don't plan to pay..."

A Freestyle Piece: Current Events - 3/8/11

"The streets are like the eyes of their people, bloodshot...interference with pipelines mimics inhibiting lifelines, blood clot...innocents die in the streets; cries go unheard as innocence dies in the sheets. Rape, murder, and theft; are these crimes or tactics? It's sad when you can't expel a deadly regime because you backed it. Under stress and debt, violence thrives. Seems that money talks to silence lives..."

A Freestyle Piece: All Men Are the Same...Because You See Them That Way - 3/8/11

"Your mistake wasn't loving him; the mistake was not seeing who he truly was. I know this is true because who you hate now is who you knew he was. The facade was enough to get you, even though you knew he tricked you. Downplay the deception, delude the disappointment. Lies lacerate and the truth heals, but you refused the ointment. Please: don't punish all men for the trap you like to fall in."

A Quote: To Fear Error - 3/8/11

"To fear error is to assign a guard dog to the doors of opportunity; any time a chance arises that could yield success or even just a new experience, that fear will bark crippling reminders of the possibility of failure, leaving one paralyzed at the threshold of progress."

A Freestyle Piece: Or Was It Just An Orgasm? - 3/8/11

"I want to make love to your mind; penetrate your thoughts, stimulate your desires, set your imagination afire, and place my seed of love in your hope's uterus. Let me stroke your ego; we'll birth smiles long before that seed gestates behind your breast plate. Your feelings rain down around me, a mind deep enough to drown me. My love finally spills over, you spasm. Now did you fall for me, or was it just an orgasm?"

A Quote: What Makes a Woman or Man - 3/8/11

"A woman is as amazing as her mind; her brilliance will cast a glow on all that she does and is, from her actions to her appearance, her words to her wisdom. A man is as great as his heart; the quality of his actions, depth of his mind, and honesty of his words will reflect where his heart is."

-A. Lewis

A Freestyle Piece: No Less Than 110% - 3/8/11

"If I ever give you less than all of me, I want you to be the fall of me. You should never have to vie for my attention or wonder if I care. Nor should you have to wonder about where I'm going or question if I'm there. That's not how a relationship works, you should trust me and feel like your heart's in the right place. Should my actions imply otherwise, then let my heart be eyes and your words and actions be mace."

-A. Lewis

A Freestyle Piece: Blaxploitation - 3/8/11

"Many would say we've progressed, but there are many problems that go unaddressed. We still cut 'cane, but instead of sugar, it's coke. We think the law is unfair, yet sell illegal drugs to our own folk. Chains kept us down and whips broke our wills; now, chains mean we're 'down,' whips get us around and also get us killed. Blaxploitation was once an erroneous display of our strife; now it's our way of life..."

A Freestyle Piece: America Only Told Me - 3/8/11

"America only told me that I have an opportunity. Society told me I wouldn't. Racism told me I couldn't. My peers told me I shouldn't. Television said it would happen without effort, and to depend on what I see. Radio told me opinions are facts, and to depend on what I hear. The Internet says whatever anyone wants it to. The message is clear: seek guidance within; follow the faith placed in me. The soul knows best."

A Freestyle Piece: Simply Out of Affectionate Reciprocity - 3/8/11

"With every second that passes by, the hands of time count the ways that I love you. Just as time has no beginning or end, neither do my feelings for you. The sun rises over my desires and sets beyond my fulfillment; my days are spent, no matter what may happen, seeing my biggest dream come true, which would be you. I'm the best thing to ever happen to you simply out of affectionate reciprocity..."

A Freestyle Piece: Oh Shooting Star - 3/8/11

"If I could, I'd place a wish on you. Every time you walk by, you're like a shooting star...and I just really want to get to know who you really are. Love may or may not take us really far, but it'd be better than you fighting what you feel; must we really spar? I want to be the one you let in. Feelings aren't really one way streets, but if you kill my chances before our causeways meet, I guess it'll be a dead end.."

A Brief Philosophy: Failure Is Progressive - 3/8/11

"Failure is progressive when taken as a lesson. No matter how many times someone fails, the lessons learned from each will bring the individual that much closer to success. Failure is only an issue when it is the result of negligence on the individual's part, whether it be from laziness, ignorance, etc. As much as it is progressive, it can also can be a point of damming; without learning, failure becomes a dead end."

A Freestyle Piece: Mother Nature's Envy - 3/8/11

"As the bright yellow sun glazes the azure sky with coats of warmth and sprinkles alimentary heat on the flora, vibrant hues of verdure emerge. Is this not Mother Nature becoming green with envy at the sight of you? The renewed Springtime sunlight cascades off of your skin; you gleam as though freshly reborn out of the purest babbling rainforest brook of beauty."

A Brief Philosophy: What Women't Don't Know About Walls - 3/8/11

"What women don't understand is that putting up a wall isn't even HALF as destructive as the mindset necessary to do so. Putting up a wall means that you believe that there are more hurtful men out there than good ones. Any guy trying to CLIMB the wall will always fit what you're afraid of; walls manifest out of the fear of the unknown. Out of familiarity, you'll only LET IN the same guys that have been hurting you."
