War and Patriotism - 9/12/11

"Threat or none, a war is an expense. There are 2 ways that the amount spent is determined: necessity & support. History has shown that the latter will always outweigh the former, thanks to the media & propaganda. The 'war on terror' teaches a well-known lesson. A war with no visible end, a questionable cause, multiple fronts, few allies, & no true enemy may sound like a ludicrous conflict that would receive no funding or support, but patriotism is cliquish, compulsive, & writes a blank check."
